After months of taunting former Ambassador Cathy Bailey about her supposed run for Governor, it appears that the East Louisville Republican may be one small step closer to a final decision.
On May 26th, our website reported that a Republican was scheduled to announce their candidacy for statewide office at the South Jefferson-Bullitt County Conservative Social in Fairdale, KY. While speculating, we took a cheap shot at the former Ambassador to Latvia’s un-likeliness to announce at the event considering its location in Southern Jefferson County. HOWEVER, it appears that Bailey is now scheduled to speak to the same group in mid-July.
“When I spoke with Cathy, she was very humbled and honored to speak at our event. She’s been very encouraging about the work we’re doing for the Conservative cause in Southern Jefferson & Bullitt County and has been a jewel to work with. We are honored to host her at the upcoming social,” said event organizer Rachel Ford.
Will Bailey be announcing her candidacy for Governor at this event? Probably not. Though it is important to note that fellow Louisvillian Hal Heiner spoke to this same group just days after announcing his campaign. Allison Ball made her run for Treasurer official at this event, too. Potential candidates for Secretary of State Michael Adams & Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw also frequent this gathering. Senate Majority Caucus Chair Dan Seum is also a frequent guest.
Though likely to keep her message focused on taking the State House, it’s inevitable that Bailey will be asked about the coming gubernatorial race. Stay tuned for more details as they emerge!
